The first time I tried to learn how to surf was in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Ever since then I have tried to keep practicing but did not succeed. Finally, when I moved to Australia I thought "This is my chance!!!" However, the competitiveness in the water, added with the stress of not hitting anyone, or having a surfer scream at me for pretty much existing, plus trying not to drown when a wave comes crashing down on me made me realize that surfing is not for me. At least not yet. However, I came to the conclusion that I was a much better photographer than surfer and I am okay with this. As much as I don't like the surfers in the water, outside of the water I do :)
This is a collection of some of the surfer friends I asked to pose for me during lunch breaks from work, trips, or coincidental meetings. In Los Surfos Postcards collection, I wrote down the names and the location of my friends. I kept the idea of adding the name and the location along with the green line across their faces to contrast the love and friendship I have with them and the anonymity my parents probably feel when I send them pictures of these strangers I have been documenting.
